The post office in Black Forest is moving less than two miles down the road, but it has many residents upset. Anthony Homes acquired a contract to build and operate a new post office at the Forest Plaza Shopping Center this week.

A spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service says the old post office near highway 83 and Shoupe didn't provide adequate service. But many residents say they were happy with the service and don't understand the reason for the move. "Through a lot of what we feel are political meanderings with the post office and I don't know who else, our postmaster was told that his contract wouldn't be renewed and it was intimated that he had had complaints and when he asked for proof of these complaints, nobody came forth," said Penelope Cash, a Black Forest resident.

The new post office will open in the fall. In the meantime, a temporary post office will operate from a trailer in the Forest Plaza Shopping Center.
