Boeing Closing Pueblo Plant

Boeing plans to close its Pueblo plant by the middle of 2004 and transfer the work to its Decatur Alabama facility.

Company officials told the plant's 250 employees yesterday and
offered relocation to Decatur, where 160 jobs will be open.

Boeing took over McDonnell Douglas in August 1997 and announced
that it would build its new generation of heavy boosters, the Delta 5, in Decatur.

The Pueblo plant has been used for the last 15 years to build Delta Rockets. The plant's work on fairings, which are shields that
cover satellites during launch, will also be moved to Decatur.
