Authorities say three people are dead after a plane crash near Austin, northeast of Delta in western Colorado.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer says preliminary reports indicate the plane crashed into power lines and was destroyed by fire, killing the pilot and two passengers.
Names of the victims were not immediately released.
Delta County sheriff's officials say the pilot was from the Sawpit area near Telluride, one passenger was from Grand Junction and one passenger was from Maryland. A hometown was not given.
Sheriff's officials say they got a 9-1-1 call reporting the crash just before eleven this morning.
Kenitzer says the Cessna 182 Skyline was registered to a Glen T- Harcourt of Placerville, but it's unknown whether he was onboard.
He says it was unclear where the plane was headed but may have left Telluride.
The investigation is ongoing.
