The decision of a Colorado Springs judge that the city does not have to offer same-sex partner benefits to employees is being appealed to the Court of Appeals.

Two lesbian couples filed the appeal Friday.

The city began offering same-sex partner benefits to employees in 2002 but discontinued them in 2003.

The plaintiffs, who no longer work for the city, claim the benefits were discontinued without due process.
