Former U.S. Forest Service worker Terry Lynn Barton has been sentenced to six years in prison for starting
Colorado's largest wildfire. Barton was sentenced in federal court for starting the 138,000 acre Hayman Fire last summer. She was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release after she gets out of prison.

U-S District Judge Richard Matsch denied a request from prosecutors that Barton pay $14.7 million in restitution. The blaze in Teller, Jefferson, Park and Douglas counties destroyed 133 homes and one business. Prosecutors estimate property damage to be about $13 million.

The 39-year-old Barton pleaded guilty in December to setting fire to federal land and making false statements to investigators. The sentence will be stayed until March 24th. Barton also pleaded guilty to a single state count of arson last month. She'll be sentenced on that charge March fifth.
