The Colorado Springs City Council is reconsidering a program of raising speed limits across the city.

After conducting surveys, the traffic engineering division had begun raising some speed limits between five and ten miles per hour.

That led to a deluge of complaints from citizens concerned about safety.

Several council members say they want to put off further speed increases until they have more time to study the issue.
