Fort Carson wives work Friday morning to make sure every soldier feels welcomed when they get back to the Mountain Post.
The Family Readiness Group made up beds, dropped off goodie bags and hung signs for single soldiers expected back to Fort Carson on Tuesday.
“We want to say thank you. You’ve done so much for us. It’s a small token. We can show you how much we appreciate, but thank you and welcome home,” said Anne Torza.
Torza’s husband is deployed. She says she was pleased, but not surprised at the good turnout of wives wanting to help. About 20 women worked to ready 90 soldiers’ rooms Friday.
Julie Mundell says she’ll have her husband’s favorite food for him, when he gets back. She wants the single soldiers to have the same kind of homecoming.
“I want them to know they can crawl into bed and just rest and relax,” said Mundell.
The 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment has been deployed to Iraq for nearly a year. Most of the 3rd ACR’s 5,200 is expected back at Fort Carson in the next three weeks.
