The first contingent of soldiers from the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment will return to Fort Carson on Thursday.
Fort Carson officials say about 80 soldiers who've been serving in Iraq are expected to arrive, but the time isn't being released.
The Army says this will be the first of several flights bringing the troops home.
The regiment's 5,200 soldiers left for Iraq last March, and saw combat near Baghdad and Tal Afar, and along the Syrian border.
It was the regiment's second tour of duty in Iraq.
