Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar is urging cities to crack down on water wasters and find uniform ways to conserve.
The state's crippling drought prompted Salazar's suggestions to
the Colorado Municipal League.
The league, which represents about 260 communities, held a
workshop yesterday on water legislation.
Salazar suggested municipalities find new ways to enforce water
law, perhaps by forcing wasters to pay more. He also suggested
coordinated efforts to conserve.
He applauded part of House Bill 1001, which authorizes a three million dollar study of water storage needs.
