Vice President Dick Cheney is out of a Washington hospital, where he was taken early Monday morning because of shortness of breath.

Cheney's spokeswoman says his condition was unrelated to his heart problems, but rather was caused by medication for a foot ailment.

A side effect of some anti-inflammatory medications is fluid retention, which can cause swelling and shortness of breath and strain the heart muscle.

The spokeswoman says Cheney was rushed to the George Washington University hospital at three o'clock Monday morning. She says doctors found his electrocardiogram unchanged. Cheney was placed on a diuretic at the hospital.
