AFA Security Changes

Until further notice only people with official business at the Academy will be allowed in. That will include only those with valid identification, or those who are invited.

Among the ID's acceptable for entry: Department of Defense, military or dependent, civilian employees, and academy contractors. There will be exceptions for D-20 students and staf with passes and base school identification.

If you plan to enter the Academy, you could also be subject to a random vehicle search.

The security precautions come after the Bush administration raised the color coded domestic alert system to orange last week. Orange is the second highest of the five levels. Officials say the change was based on intelligence warning of possible strikes.

The 19,000 acre campus is one of Colorado's most popular tourist attractions. It was closed for nearly three months following the terrorist attacks in September 2001.
