Season Ticket Sales Down

The Colorado Rockies are blaming the economy for a drop in season ticket sales.

Thursday was the deadline for season ticket holders to renew.

The Denver Post reports the Rockies could lose about 10,000 season tickets from last year's total of around 24,000.

Marketing consultants and fans say the economy might have something to do with the decline. But they also point to the team's poor performance.

The Rockies went 73-and-89 last season. They've posted seven consecutive last or next-to-last place finishes in their division.

Colorado led major league baseball in attendance from 1993 to 1999. Home-game attendance dropped below 30,000 last April for the first time in team history.
