Two men were killed late Thursday night after a tractor-trailer rolled on top of their car.
The fatal crash closed I-25 near Trinidad for several hours late Thursday night into Friday morning.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. at mile marker 23 on northbound I-25. That's a few miles north of Trinidad.
According to Colorado State Patrol, a tractor pulling a trailer lost control and veered off the road, across the median and into the opposite lane of travel. The driver tried to steer off and wound up causing the vehicle to spin and then roll on top of an oncoming Mitsubishi Coupe.
Twenty-year-old Anthony Coronado of Raton, New Mexico and 20-year-old Kevin Salazar of Corpus Christi died on scene. They were the only occupants in the Mitsubishi. Troopers say both men were wearing their seat belts.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 40-year-old Bernie Wright of Fort Worth, sustained minor injuries.
At this time, no charges have been filed, and troopers do not suspect alcohol, drugs or speed as being involved. The crash remains under investigation.
