Two children were killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Highway 50 east of Gunnison.

Colorado State Patrol says at 8 a.m. the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling west lost control and was hit by a car going east.

The cobalt's driver, 22-year-old Jamie Dowling of Irving, Texas, was not wearing her seat belt and had serious injuries. A 5-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl were also in the car. They had seat belts on, but the boy died at the scene of the crash. The girl was taken to a hospital where she died.

The driver of the second car had minor injuries.

Snow was falling at the time of the crash and weather is considered a factor. Drugs, alcohol and speed are not believed to have caused the crash. So far there are no charges. Troopers are still investigating.
