Smallpox Vaccinations

As the threat of war with Iraq looms and government experts worry there could be a biological attack, Colorado has received its first shipment of smallpox vaccine. FedEx delivered 1,800 doses of the vaccine to Denver this morning. They will then be delievered across the state tomorrow.

Public health and hospital teams across the state are getting ready for the shot. The White House and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are concerned the virus could be re-introduced by terrorists.

Vaccinations across the state will begin Friday morning.

It will take about 60 days to innoculate the health and hospital workers.
