Lawmakers will get their first look this week at proposed budget cuts. The Legislature's Joint Budget Committee has drafted the proposals -- which now go to lawmakers in the form of several different bills.

Sure to generate a lot of debate is an accounting maneuver designed to free up nearly $300 million. The money is set aside for income tax refunds next fiscal year but would be counted toward this year's revenues.

Treasurer Mike Coffman warns the move could leave the state that much shorter next budget year.
