Moderate snow continues to fall for some areas of northern El Paso and Teller Counties, accumulating in the grass and yards. Meanwhile, in the plains and along the southern I-25 stretch, light rain/snow mix continues. Take it slow on the roadways - due to VERY strong winds, we are seeing blowing dirt and snow (depending on the region), which is tremendously reducing visibility. The Air Force Academy's new superintendent is vowing to create a safe environment for cadets at the school.
Lieutenant General John Regni takes over after scandals involving sexual assault and allegations of religious intolerance. He was installed at a ceremony Monday.
Regni says his experience as commander of the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama will help him in his new post. He insisted that the academy will have a positive learning environment, free from discrimination and assault.
Regni, an academy graduate, replaces Lieutenant General John Rosa, who was brought in to help the academy recover from a sexual assault scandal.
Rosa resigned to become president of his alma mater, The Citadel, a military college in South Carolina.
