The Denver coroner's office says a man killed by police over the weekend died of multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.

The autopsy results for 45-year-old Odiceo Valencia were released Monday. Authorities say they are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests.

Police say officers shot Valencia on Saturday as he charged at them with a knife. Police say the officers first tried to subdue him with a Taser and non-lethal pellets called pepper balls.

Officers were called to the scene on a report that a drunken man had cut himself with a knife.

Police say Valencia was under a restraining order and was not supposed to be at the house where he was killed.
