Denver police say a man they shot and killed was charging at officers with a knife after they tried to subdue him with a Taser and pepper balls.
Police say they responded to a Denver home after reports that a drunken man had cut himself with a knife. The man wasn't at the home when police arrived but he later returned. Police spokeswoman Detective Sharon Hahn says the man "was aggressively charging" at officers after they ordered him to drop his knife Saturday afternoon.
Hahn says the man died at an Aurora hospital after the shooting.
A family friend identified the man as 45-year-old Odiseo Valencia.
Police say the man had a restraining order and was not allowed at the northeast Denver home where the shooting occurred.
