He suffered from broken bones, a concussion, scrapes and bruises. And more than two months later he's still in physical therapy.
Palmer High School Music Director Bob Crowder was hit by a car while crossing the street near school in March.
Crowder hasn't been back to work since the accident. And for the first time on Sunday afternoon, he got to watch a big performance by a big group of his students at the Pikes Peak Center in downtown Colorado Springs.
The kids are with the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale, of which Crowder is the co-founder.
Before performers hit the stage on Sunday, Crowder was given a special tribute.
"Very strange," said Crowder. Strange, because he says he's used to helping the kids get ready for their big entrance instead of sitting with the rest of the audience.
"I miss them a lot, more than they know," said Crowder.
Crowder's near fatal accident two-months ago has kept him away from his passion.
But Crowder has come a very long way. His battered body is now mostly healed, although he is still undergoing intensive physical therapy.
Crowder's doctors tell him he's expected to make a full recovery.
He also plans to go back to work in August.
In the meantime, police still don't know who plowed their car into him.
If you have any information in the case, please call police.
