Colorado Democrats have nominated Representative Mark Udall to run for the U-S Senate. Udall is opposing former Republican Representative Bob Schaffer to replace retiring Republican Sen. Wayne Allard.
The Democrats approved the nomination during the state party's convention in Colorado Springs. They also are working to select delegates to the Democratic National Convention in August in Denver.
Udall told the crowd that if elected he would support alternative energy development, affordable health care and a plan to get the United States out of Iraq. He says he is aware of the West's issues, not only through his experience in Congress but through his family.
