Fort Carson and Peterson Air Force Base are sending 220 soldiers and airmen to duty in the Middle East over the next few weeks.
Fort Carson's Tenth Combat Support Hospital will send 200 soldiers to Iraq. The unit can run an 84-bed hospital capable of surgery and intensive care.
The unit will deploy in stages through November.
Sunday, 20 airmen from the 302nd Airlift Wing reserve unit will leave for Qatar.
The wing already has 200 airmen in the Middle East and Europe. They manage airports and fly C-130 transport planes with supplies and troops to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Army's 3rd Brigade is scheduled to deploy from Fort Carson this fall, but the military has not said when or where it will go. The brigade has 3,600 soldiers.
Fort Carson now has more than 6,000 soldiers in Iraq including the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 43rd Area Support Group.
