Monument Police and El Paso County Sheriff's deputies were inolved in a standoff with a woman in Monument.

The El Paso County Sheriff says it appears to have started as a domestic disturbance between a man and woman.

Police say they were called to the home on reports of shots being fired. When they arrrived a woman was inside the home. The tactical unit was called in and were able to talk the woman out. She was taken into custody without incident.

Several shots have been fired inside the home.

Surrounding streets were closed off, and residents were asked to stay in their homes.

This freaking nut case really does need help!!!! And the poor guy - lucky he wasn't home, otherwise it would've probably have been a homicide. Clearly, she's a desperate, troubled and sick individual. I agree with the person below... lock the psycho up and throw away the key!!!!!

The poor woman needs help. Get her some, a nice room with 24 hr a day supervision.

The tactical unit was more than likely dispatch as a matter of procedure because of weapons involved. The story does lack some information, Like what was she shotting at? Did she shoot at the police? I guess no one was hit?

This was not a "stand off" as the media called it. When the police were in contact with the woman she came out peacefully. The media showed up after the fact.
