Eight Police Officers Recognized For Bravery Save Email Print

Eight Pikes Peak Community College police officers will be given recognition from the American Police Hall of Fame for their bravery during the New Life Church shootings.

Officer Doyle Kilgore was the first uniformed officer on the scene and will be presented the Silver Star for Bravery. Sergeants Ron Miskell and Wes Walter, Corporal John Orndoff and Officers Val Maluia, Angela Boehme, Chad Bauer and Rickey Klataska will be given Outstanding Commendation awards.

On December 9, 2007 Mathew Murray opened fire on the church-goers at New Life Church and shot and killed two sisters.

The awards will be given out at 2:30 p.m. Thursday May 8 in the Pikes Peak Community College Centennial Campus Theater on 5675 South Academy Blvd.
