Musicians have made two counter proposals in the ongoing labor and financial troubles of the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra.

The symphony is about $950,000 in debt and has filed for Chapter Eleven bankruptcy protection. Symphony managers filed for bankruptcy a day after the musicians rejected pay cuts.

Musicians say two proposals they made Saturday would be worth about $100,000 and would include financial concessions to help ease the budget crunch. But the board rejected the ideas, saying they were simply "loans" and not a long-term solution.

The musicians and symphony officials plan to talk to two Colorado Springs foundations that have offered to pay for a mediator in the labor negotiations.
