A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. An attempted carjacking scene was spread across five miles on the east side of Colorado Springs.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s spokesperson, a woman in her mid 20s approached a tow truck driver near Marksheffel and Bradley. She showed a handgun and tried to carjack the tow truck. Unsuccessful, she then fled the scene in a late-model Honda.
El Paso County Sheriff deputies caught up to the suspect nearly five miles away at Fontaine Boulevard and Old Glory Drive. Deputies said the Honda was reportedly stolen.
Investigators told us the suspect is in custody and they have found the handgun she used in this crime.
At this time, the suspect has not been identified.
