A Fort Carson based soldier who recently returned from Iraq shot his wife, then himself at their home near Fort Collins.
Larimer County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of shots being fired at the home north of Fort Collins Wednesday afternoon. After several hours, SWAT team members entered the home. Inside they found the bodies of Pfc. Stephen S. Sherwood and his wife. Investigators believe Sherwood shot his wife and then himself.
Sherwood was a member of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, and had just returned from Iraq.
The incident is under investigation by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Fort Carson Criminal Investigation Division.
