Newly-elected Crowley County Sheriff Miles Clark says he's looking forward to putting the department back together, and restoring a sense of professionalism after months of turmoil.
Voters yesterday recalled Clark's boss, former Sheriff Jeff Keyes, by a vote of 658-to-271. The election came three months after a jury acquitted Keyes of attempting to influence a public servant.
The 45-year-old Keyes was tried over three days in April on charges that he spilled a barrel of hydraulic fluid during a drug raid, then lied about it.
Jurors also found him not guilty of attempting to commit a hazardous waste violation. A judge dismissed two evidence-tampering charges.
The 52-year-old Clark takes over immediately.
He declined to comment on Keyes.
