The election for Denver's new mayor will mark a significant change as the city ends a decade of growth and faces economic uncertainty.
Mayor Wellington Webb is stepping down after 12 years in office because of term limits.
Voters will choose his replacement May 6. A runoff election will be held June 3 if there is no majority winner.
Candidates include businessman John Hickenlooper and former art dealer Elizabeth Schlosser. Denver Auditor Don Mares, former city Manager of Safety Ari Zavaras, state Senator Penfield Tate, former state Democratic Party chairman Phil Perington and former City Councilwoman Susan Casey also are running.
