An eight-mile stretch of new highway opened today, marking the end of a 14-year project to build a 47-mile stretch of road around Denver. The final section of the one-point-two (b) billion dollar E-Four-70 toll road links Interstate 25 and U-S Highway 85. Construction began December 14th, 1988, with the first five-mile section -- south I-25 to Parker Road -- opening on June 1, 1991. Motorist can pay eight-dollars-50 cents to bypass Denver --ending at points north and south of the city.
