Emergency responders from all across the Front Range gathered in Simla to say goodbye to a fallen hero. Todd Sielaff was killed in a car accident on Highway 24 Sunday afternoon.

Sielaff was a supervisor at Elbert County Dispatch and a volunteer firefighter for the Big Sandy Fire Protection District. His death has shaken the small community of Simla.

A loving husband and father of three, Sielaff was dependable, kind and always there when anyone in the community needed him.

"I don't know if I ever told him he was my hero," said his wife Holly.

Holly looks back on their 20 years together, years full of memories and laughter.

"He's my best friend, my other half, I don't know how I am going to get through this," she said.

She’s brought to tears as John Hillman, chief of the Simla Volunteer Fire Department, hands her an American Flag, a flag that represents her husband’s service and commitment.

"He was always the cool, calm collected guy on the radio," said Hillman.

And he saved countless lives doing the job he loved. A fly-over by two medical helicopters and a line of flashing lights pay tribute to a fallen brother, as one final call goes out over the air.

"You have served your community well, may God bless you."

A memorial for Joe Rockwell, the other Elbert County 911 dispatcher, killed in Sunday's accident will be Saturday at 1pm in Simla at the Liberty Plains Baptist Church.

38-year-old Donald Massmann is the man State Patrol say is to blame for the deadly accident. Massmann was arrested and is facing four charges of careless driving causing death.
