After a mild Saturday, temperatures to finish the weekend will be MUCH colder! A system to our west pushes into SE Colorado overnight. Snow showers will be possible by early Sunday morning across the I-25 corridor with a change to rain and snow showers through the afternoon. Accumulation should be minimal as most moisture looks to be light and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and 40s through the afternoon. The main impact will be the cold along with winds gusting up to 40 mph at times. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
Blasting is expected to continue through the end of the week along Interstate 70 as workers clear loose rocks and debris from a series of weekend rock slides.
Westbound lanes are closed while eastbound lanes reopened after blasting this morning near Idaho Springs. Major delays are expected along the state's main east-west highway through Friday.
Until then, one lane in each direction will be open to motorists but no wide-load trucks will be allowed on I-70 between Idaho Springs and Dumont, about 40 miles west of Denver.
Traffic will be stopped periodically to accommodate the work.
Drivers have been encouraged to avoid the area and take an alternate route by heading south on U-S Highway 285 to Fairplay and then Colorado Nine toward Frisco before getting back on I-70.
