Snow will continue to wind down from northwest to southeast tonight, and should be mainly out of the state by Saturday morning. Heaviest snow overnight will favor areas to the south and southwest of Pueblo. Mountain locations will likely see over a foot. Watch out for icy roads, and take it slow if you have to travel.
Colorado Congressman John Salazar joined other Democrats Saturday in denouncing President Bush's plan to revamp Social Security. The radio addresses are being broadcast on the eve of the program's 70th birthday.
Bush has proposed optional individual investment accounts. Salazar says the retirement and disability program has an unbroken record of paying the benefits promised -- but is being threatened by what he calls "a fabricated crisis and a false solution."
Democratic Senator John Kerry targeted his message to Hispanics -- who he said are less likely to have additional sources of retirement income and rely more on Social Security.
Those on both sides of the debate are using Sunday's 70th anniversary of Social Security to stage events and build momentum going into this fall's debate about possible changes to the system.
