A 16-year-old boy is recovering after his foot was trapped under a boulder for about 12 hours in Eagle County.
William McCann of Leander, Texas says he suffered no broken bones. But he has swelling in his right foot after he was trapped by the boulder in the Holy Cross Wilderness near Blodgett Lake -- southwest of Vail.
The boulder was about five feet by five feet, and rescuers estimated it weighed one thousand pounds.
McCann was climbing with about 20 people from Outward Bound when the accident happened. He says he put his hands on some boulders to pull himself up, but one gave way and landed on his foot.
His companions were unable to free him and called 9-1-1.
He says he expects to leave the hospital Friday.
