The Pueblo County district attorney is threatening to sue Colorado Springs for discharging raw sewage into Fountain Creek.
In a letter to Colorado Springs officials, DA Bill Thiebaut says he'll sue for violations of the federal Clean Water Act if problems aren't corrected within 60 days. Thiebaut also says he may pursue state criminal charges.
State records show that Colorado Springs has discharged almost 377,000 gallons of untreated sewage since May into the creek, which runs through both cities.
Last week, the Pueblo County Health Department warned residents to stay out of Fountain Creek after testing revealed bacteria levels didn't meet state standards.
Colorado Springs officials say they're working in good faith to address Pueblo's concerns.
