A new regional forest fire research center at Colorado State University will study how to restore forests after wildfires.
The center is a outgrowth of the federal Southwest Forest Health and Wildfire Prevention passed by Congress last year.
Bill Romme, a CSU professor of forest ecology, said funding for the new institute will be announced this fall. He said CSU was chosen because of its experience with forest science research.
