The lead investigator into claims that evangelical Christians at the Air Force Academy bullied cadets of other faiths says his report did not "explain away" problems of religious intolerance as critics have said.
Air Force Lieutenant General Roger Brady's report was released Wednesday. It found religious "insensitivity" but no overt discrimination at the school.
Representatives Steve Israel of New York and Lois Capps of California -- both Democrats -- said Brady was not critical enough of cadets and faculty.
Brady said he wouldn't have detailed religious insensitivity in his report if he had wanted to cover up anything. The self-described born-again Christian says academy officials have a rigorous plan to teach cadets tolerance and make sure it's working.
