The Air Force is creating a new Number Two position at the Air Force Academy.
Acting Air Force Secretary Michael Dominguez says Brigadier General Irving Halter will be assigned to the new post of vice superintendent.
Dominguez says Halter's new position is part of changes implemented by academy Superintendent Lieutenant General John Rosa in the wake of a sex assault scandal that resulted in the ouster of four academy officials in 2003.
Rosa is awaiting approval from Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to leave the school to become president of his alma mater, The Citadel.
Brigadier General Johnny Weida will remain as commandant of cadets at the academy.
