Bridges Running for Governor

Wealthy think tank founder Rutt Bridges has officially declared his candidacy for Colorado governor.

That makes the Littleton resident the second Democrat officially seeking the job that Republican Governor Bill Owens must give up next year because of term limits.

Democrat and former Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter also is in the race for governor.

Among Republicans, Congressman Bob Beauprez (BO'-pray) has expressed interest in running.

The 53-year-old Bridges is the founder of the Bighorn Center for Public Policy and was a candidate for the U-S Senate last year. He backed out of that race once former state Attorney General Ken Salazar entered it and was eventually voted into office.
