The court-martial of a senior Air Force Academy cadet charged with rape abruptly halted Tuesday morning after his attorney said new information had surfaced in the case.
Cadet First Class Benjamin D. Kuster is charged with raping the female cadet while on a diving club trip to Santa Rosa, New Mexico, in May of last year.
Civilian defense attorney Richard Stevens says five motions are pending before the court, including a planned closed-door hearing on what evidence is covered under rape shield law.
Stevens refused to say what new evidence surfaced.
Kuster has said he was drinking heavily, and could've mistaken the woman for his girlfriend.
