A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
Efforts are underway in Crowley County to recall the sheriff, who was acquitted recently on charges stemming from a chemical spill during a drug raid.
However -- Sheriff Jeff Keyes is challenging a petition seeking a recall election.
County officials have approved a recall petition -- but Keyes says nearly 30 of the 342 signatures are questionable.
Recall organizers need at least 324 valid signatures to force a recall vote.
Last month, a jury acquitted Keyes on charges of attempting to influence a public servant and attempting to commit a hazardous waste violation.
Prosecutors alleged that Keyes spilled a 55-gallon barrel filled with hydraulic fluid during a raid of a methamphetamine lab, then lied about it to Otero County Health Department officials.
