United Talks

United Airlines and its machinists' union are still at the bargaining table this morning after an all-night session aimed at averting a threatened strike.

Representatives from United and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are hoping to resolve remaining differences over a new lower-cost pension plan -- before a bankruptcy court judge in Chicago does it for them.

The dominant carrier at Denver International Airport wants to cut pay and benefits without union consent. A trial on the matter is scheduled to resume today with closing arguments.

The union representing 20-thousand machinists says workers will walk if the judge approves United's request.

The airlines has a total of some six-thousand employees in Colorado.
