New charges have been filed against a Pueblo man in connection with the death of his infant daughter. The Pueblo County District Attorney's office says 23-year-old John Minjarez will face a charge of child abuse causing death. Three-and-a-half-month-old Juanita Minjarez died of severe head injuries Tuesday at Children's Hospital in Denver. Minjarez called 9-1-1 Sunday to report Juanita was not breathing and was bleeding from her mouth. He told police he left the child unattended for 15 minutes in a baby bouncer, then found the girl tipped over. Police arrested Minjarez that night on suspicion of child abuse. Authorities say officers also found a bag of marijuana in the home. The Pueblo County Department of Social Services took custody of the couple's three remaining children. Minjarez faces 24 to 48 years in prison if convicted.
