A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
A security alert at the White House Wednesday morning sent armed officers running across the grounds and prompted aides to usher President Bush out of the Oval Office.
A Secret Service spokeswoman says the alert was caused by a report of an aircraft violating the restricted airspace near the mansion.
Uniformed agents with guns drawn ran across the White House North driveway, urging reporters and photographers to leave. Others carrying shotguns cleared Pennsylvania Avenue of pedestrians.
However, the alert was over within minutes, and normal White House business resumed.
Officials say the president left his West Wing office during the scare but returned a short time later.
