The healing process is beginning for a local family torn apart by Monday night's fire tragedy.
As all are under doctors’ care, two of the Joseph kids are in a Texas hospital getting some of the best treatment in the country.
Four of Maria Joseph’s kids are in the hospital. The 25-year-old Joseph is in jail facing murder charges for the death of her youngest, Ashia following a fatal fire at their Colorado Springs home.
The pieces are left for the gathering.
"It's going to be hard, we need all the support we can get," said Sherry Norton, Joseph’s sister.
"As soon as you hear the word burn, then we want to help," said Bart Guthrie.
His is one voice from a community responding to the tragedy.
"One of them was 85% burned," he said.
He and the Al Kaly Shriners received a call from the Shriner’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas following a request from Children's Hospital in Denver.
"They wanted to transport all four kids to the Galveston Hospital," said Guthrie.
It's one service Al Kaly Shriners provide, and would have in this case, but the kids are now covered by the state. In the meantime, two are in Galveston getting the best care Shriner's Hospitals can offer at a very competitive rate.
"There is no cost for treatment," Guthrie said.
As four kids continue the long road ahead, there is hope amid the heartbreak.
