The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is throwing a farewell party for its youngest orangutan, 9 month-old Mahal.
Mahal was abandoned by his mother and the zoo was unable to find a surrogate mother here in the Springs. So he will be moving to the Milwaukee County Zoo, during the first week of February, to meet his new mother.
Wednesday, January 30th the zoo will hold a party for Mahal at 10:00 a.m. Guests will be able view the baby orangutan in the Primate World exhibit, and write farewell messages in a good bye book for Mahal.
