CU Students Want Change in Alcohol Policies

Alcohol policies may be changing at the University of Colorado.

School officials met with students Monday to discuss new alcohol policies that will take effect in the fall.

Some students want to change a policy that punishes non-drinking students when they're caught with students who ARE drinking in the dorms.

Under current policy, non-drinking students get a "strike" if they're caught in the presence of alcohol in dorms.

A first strike means a letter is sent home to parents -- a second strike can get students suspended.

Students say the dorm policy is too strict.

Freshman Ryan Brendle says students who don't drink are getting in trouble, and that the policy is causing isolation because some students feel like they can't hang out with their friends.
