United Airlines, Colorado's largest airline, has reached a tentative cost-cutting agreement with its flight attendants.

The airline confirmed today that the deal cuts wages, but spokesman Joe Hopkins would not discuss other details. The agreement between executives and union negotiators now goes before the entire membership of the Association of Flight Attendants.

The Air Line Pilots Association already has agreed to cuts, and its leaders praised flight attendants for helping the company avoid bankruptcy. The airline still seeks cuts from machinists and dispatchers.

The cuts are part of United's plan to shave billions of dollars in costs to help secure federal backing for a two billion dollar loan and avoid bankruptcy.
