War Over Words

If he does get fired, it won't be for his comments. That's the word coming from University of Colorado president Betsy Hoffman.

She says ethnic studies professor Ward Churchill will not be terminated for an essay where he compares 9-11 victims to Nazi leader Adolf Eichman.

Hoffman says Churchill would be fired if a 30-day review uncovers misconduct by the embattled professor. She did not say whether the school will offer him a buyout.

Governor Owens has called on C.U. to terminate Churchill's employment. And some lawmakers have threatened to reduce the school's funding.
