Humane society officials have seized 39 emaciated horses and cattle from a ranch in Rush.
Officials with the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region said they would recommend animal cruelty charges be filed.
Officials say some of the horses that were seized this month were up to 400 pounds underweight. One was found dead.
The owner of the ranch was not identified.
About 25 other horses remain on the property because they did not appear to be suffering. The Humane Society is monitoring the ranch.
Authorities say the property owners bred, trained and boarded horses and ran a horse transport business -- which delivered unwanted foals to new, adoptive owners.
